Dr Koehorst
With over 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr Koehorst brings in a deep well of knowledge, skill and empathy to every patient she treats. For the past 10 years, she has proudly served the animal-loving community of Santa Cruz County, earning a reputation for her gentle approach and dedication to whole-pet wellness.
Dr Koehorst has a special love for feline medicine and has worked in a cat only practice in the past. She also has a strong clinical interest in dermatology and did a lot of continuous education in the last 2 years about this topic. She loves helping pets with chronic skin conditions find lasting relief and comfort.
In addition to her Western medical training, Dr. Koehorst embraces integrative care. She incorporates Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) into her practice, using herbal medicine and food therapy to support healing and long-term wellness. Her holistic approach focuses on restoring balance and treating the root causes of illness-not just the symptoms.
When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr Koehorst enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her lively animal crew, which includes two dogs, one cat, a flock of chickens and goats- and Natasja the goose, who keeps everyone in line. She loves hiking in the redwoods, mushroom hunting, camping and watching soccer and softball whenever she gets the chance.
Whether through conventional medicine or ancient herbal wisdom, Dr Koehorst is committed to helping your pet live a happy, healthy life.
Kelsey
Kelsey was born and raised in the Santa Cruz Mountains. After high school, she moved to Tahoe and later to Reno, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Nevada. In 2016, she was accepted into the Veterinary Technology Program at Foothill College and graduated in 2018 with an associate degree in Veterinary Technology. Shortly after, she passed both the state and national board exams to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.
Kelsey brings over a decade of experience in the veterinary field, having worked in nearly every role within the hospital—including reception, assistant, and technician. Her professional interests include surgery, anesthesia, and all things feline. She especially enjoys the challenge of treating “spicy” cats and is a dedicated advocate for her patients, ensuring they receive compassionate, high-quality care. Kelsey is currently working toward a Veterinary Business Leader certificate to continue expanding her leadership and practice management skills.
At home, Kelsey shares life with her husband, their four-year-old human, and four beloved cats. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, camping—anything outdoors—as well as reading (or listening to) a good book.
